Air Fryer Protein Bagels

Delicious and nutritious bagels high in protein, made effortlessly in an air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • Toppings: everything seasoning, poppy seeds, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add a pinch of salt if you prefer.
  2. Create a well in the center of the mixture, and gently add the cottage cheese. Mix until a chunky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until it’s semi-smooth. Add more flour if it’s too sticky.
  4. Divide the dough into four equal portions and roll each into a 6-7 inch log, connecting the ends to form bagels.
  5. Whisk the egg with a splash of water or milk and brush it over the bagels, then sprinkle with your chosen toppings.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F. Spray the basket with cooking spray, place the bagels in a single layer, and cook for 15-17 minutes, checking for doneness at 10 minutes.
  7. Let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Kneading should be gentle; don’t overwork the dough. Keep a close eye on bagels as cooking times may vary.
