Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped apples (peeled and cored)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully mixed before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt. Gradually mix this dry combination into your wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped apples and optional nuts.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving ample space for spreading.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a softer texture, store cookies with a piece of bread. You can also freeze them for longer storage.
