Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bites

A whimsical twist on classic French toast that transforms stale bread into delightful bite-sized treats infused with cinnamon flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 thick slices of slightly stale white bread (about 1″/2.5cm thick)
  • 2 large eggs (or 3 small eggs)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 3 tbsp butter, separated
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cut the crusts off the bread and cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt in a medium bowl until smooth.
  3. Mix the white sugar with the cinnamon in a shallow bowl to create a sweet coating.
  4. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and melt 1.5 tablespoons of butter.
  5. Toss half of the bread cubes in the egg mixture, then add them to the hot pan. Cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the golden bread bites to the cinnamon-sugar mixture and toss to coat fully.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining bread cubes, adding more butter to the pan as needed.
  8. Serve immediately with warm maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for better absorption of the egg mixture. Avoid using the microwave for reheating; instead, reheat in a toaster oven or pan to keep them crispy.
