Soft, fluffy rolls swirled with cinnamon and bursting with juicy blueberries, perfect for breakfast or a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 egg (optional for egg wash)
  • Cream cheese or icing for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, and salt until well mixed.
  2. Gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes, until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle shape.
  6. Spread melted butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Evenly spread the fresh blueberries over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
  8. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log and slice it into individual rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased pan and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. If desired, brush the rolls with an egg wash for a glossy finish before baking.
  12. Let the rolls cool slightly before drizzling with cream cheese or icing.

Notes
