Crispy Hash Browns

Delicious and crispy hash browns that are easy to make and perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. Rinse them under cold water to remove excess starch, then squeeze out as much moisture as you can.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the grated potatoes, chopped onion, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  4. Spread the potato mixture evenly in the skillet. Use a spatula to press down gently for even cooking.
  5. Let them cook until the bottom turns a lovely golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Using a large plate, carefully flip the hash browns. Cook on the other side for another 5-7 minutes until it’s crispy and golden.
  7. Serve hot, and top with your favorite ingredients!

Notes

For a twist, consider using Yukon gold potatoes for a sweeter flavor or adding bell peppers, herbs, or cheese.
