Easy One Hour Cinnamon Rolls

A quick and delightful recipe for cinnamon rolls that can be prepared in just one hour, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 (0.25 ounce) packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-4 Tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Start by melting 1/2 stick of unsalted butter in a small bowl. Set it aside.
  2. Warm the milk until it’s just warm to the touch (about 110°F). Mix in the melted butter, granulated sugar, and the yeast packet. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, or until it’s bubbly and frothy.
  3. Preheat your oven to its lowest setting. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm yeast mixture with the egg, salt, and vanilla extract. Gradually incorporate the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Cover the dough and place it in the warmed oven for about 10 minutes to proof.
  5. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, prepare the filling by mixing the softened butter, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  6. Roll out the proofed dough on a floured surface. Spread the filling evenly across the dough. Roll it up tightly and slice it into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Arrange the slices in a greased baking pan. Bake them at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, until they are golden brown.
  8. Allow the rolls to cool for about 10 minutes. While they cool, blend the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and 2-4 tablespoons of milk in a mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
  9. Drizzle the cream cheese icing over the warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy!

Notes

These rolls are best enjoyed warm and fresh out of the oven. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
