Egg and Cheese Toasts

Delicious and customizable egg and cheese toasts, perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices hearty sandwich bread
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, or gruyere)
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by lightly toasting the bread for 1–2 minutes until just golden.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg until fully combined.
  4. Stir in the grated cheese, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread the egg and cheese mixture over the toasted bread.
  6. If you enjoy a bit of heat, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne on top.
  7. Bake in your preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.

Notes

For the best results, use freshly grated cheese and feel free to swap in your favorite cheese or herbs.
