Flat Belly Waffles

Delicious and healthy waffles made with whole wheat flour and almond milk, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup almond milk (or regular milk)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: fresh fruit, honey, or yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix until evenly blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or oil.
  6. Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. Serve warm, topped with fresh fruit, a drizzle of honey, or a dollop of yogurt.

Notes

Don’t over-mix the batter for fluffier waffles. Adjust the cooking time based on your waffle iron.
