French Toast Sticks

Transform classic French toast into delicious finger food with these easy-to-make French toast sticks, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick bread (brioche preferred)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Slice the bread: Take your brioche and cut it into 1-inch wide strips.
  2. Prepare the egg mixture: In a blender or bowl, combine the milk, flour, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Blend or whisk until completely smooth.
  3. Preheat your skillet: Heat your skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter, letting it melt thoroughly.
  4. Dip the bread: Take each strip of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated.
  5. Cook the sticks: Place the coated bread strips in the skillet, cooking them for about 2 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately: Enjoy your French toast sticks while they’re warm, adding toppings like maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream as desired.

Notes

Stale bread works well as it absorbs more of the egg mixture. Don’t overcrowd the pan for even cooking.
