French Toast Sticks

Delicious and playful French toast sticks, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 6 slices thick bread (brioche recommended)

Instructions

  1. Slice the bread into 1-inch wide strips.
  2. Whisk together milk, flour, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Preheat a non-stick griddle over medium heat and melt the butter, coating the surface.
  4. Dip each bread strip into the egg mixture, coating them well but avoiding sogginess.
  5. Place the coated strips on the griddle and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately topped with syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit according to your taste.

Notes

For alternatives, use whole wheat or gluten-free bread instead of brioche. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
