Hawaiian Roll French Toast

A delightful twist on classic French toast using sweet Hawaiian rolls, perfect for brunch or a cozy breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting each Hawaiian roll in half and setting them aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until smooth and well-combined.
  3. Dip each half of the Hawaiian roll into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are evenly coated.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter, allowing it to melt.
  5. Once the butter is melted, place the coated rolls on the skillet. Cook until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Serve warm, topped with maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or orange zest to the egg mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
