A hearty breakfast casserole perfect for busy mornings, combining eggs, sausage, and cheese for a comforting meal.

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 loaf bread, cubed
  • 1 pound cooked sausage or bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, onions, spinach)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs and spices (e.g., thyme, paprika)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Whisk together the eggs and milk in a large mixing bowl. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
  4. Layer the cubed bread evenly at the bottom of the dish.
  5. Sprinkle the crumbled sausage or bacon over the bread, followed by the chopped vegetables.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers.
  7. Top it off with a generous sprinkle of shredded cheese.
  8. Cover the dish with foil. At this point, you can refrigerate it overnight or bake it immediately.
  9. Bake covered for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes until the casserole is set and golden brown.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to mix in your favorite vegetables or swap the sausage for a meat substitute.
