Old-Fashioned Pancakes

A classic breakfast staple, these Old-Fashioned Pancakes are fluffy, delicious, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Extra butter or oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  2. Beat together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter in another bowl until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just mixed.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat with butter or oil.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  6. Cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Serve warm with syrup or toppings of your choice.

Notes

For a healthier twist, substitute whole wheat flour, or use plant-based milk with vinegar for a vegan option.
