Savory Breakfast Rolls

Delicious homemade breakfast rolls filled with sausage, cheese, and vegetables, perfect for brunch or meal prep.

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup chopped vegetables (bell peppers, onions, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk together flour and salt, then make a well in the center and add yeast mixture, olive oil, and egg. Mix until cohesive dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Transfer kneaded dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle and distribute sausage, cheese, and vegetables evenly over it.
  7. Roll tightly into a log and slice into even rolls.
  8. Place rolls on a greased baking sheet and let rise for another 20 minutes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For added flavor, consider using different cheeses or herbs. Rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen.
