Green Bean Casserole

A comforting and creamy green bean casserole topped with crunchy French fried onions, perfect for family gatherings and holidays.

  • 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and blanched
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup French fried onions, divided
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for sautéing mushrooms)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using mushrooms, sauté them in butter over medium heat until they are tender.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Add the blanched green beans and sautéed mushrooms to the soup mixture. Toss to coat well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a casserole dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  7. Stir in half of the French fried onions, sprinkle the remaining onions on top, and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

Leftover casserole can be stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven for best results, adding fresh onions for crunch.
